As I have mentioned in previous posts, my husband Henry and I had to pull a wedding together in three weeks, a feat which would not have been possible without embracing everything Toowoomba has to offer when it comes to hosting an event. Having local contacts means that you can make any event one to remember, no matter how little time you may have to pull everything together.

Earlier in my career I had the fortune of being an event planner for a local business and had developed some wonderful relationships with many event related vendors around town. When it came time to pull our wedding together with the utmost haste, I knew exactly who to get in touch with to make our ceremony spectacular.

Every time I needed to add an extra layer of wow to any event the team at The Party Hut always came through. During my event planning job, I sought the expertise of The Party Hut team on a number of occasions. Whether it was making two-meter-high milkshakesa giant anchor or decorating an arch with an extravagant arrangement, the team always delivered. With that in mind, we knew that they would always be our first choice when it came to assembling the balloons for our wedding and they definitely didn’t disappoint!

The next thing to tackle was the cake. Fortunately for us, Toowoomba is filled with amazing local cake makers and I was able to contact Jessica from Caked by Jess to make the wedding cake of our dreams with just a few weeks’ notice. Jessica had previously supplied many of my events with all sorts of beautiful cake creations, whether it be 600 cupcakes, or personal mini red velvet cakes, her treats never disappoint. Henry and I are both patiently counting down the days until our first anniversary when we get to devour the top tier of our wedding cake which presently resides in our freezer. With an amazing blueberry and lemon white chocolate mud cake filling and gold-leafed teal buttercream this cake definitely rates highly on our list of favorite desserts and we can’t wait to taste it again.

We also knew that we wanted to add personal touches to our wedding and when you want personalised goods look no further than Jodie from Crafty Cuts in Toowoomba. With only a few weeks’ notice Jodie was able to whip up personalised cheese boards and knives, tote bags and wine glasses. This meant our guests all got to take home some lasting memories from our day.

This short list only just skims the surface of all the amazing suppliers in Toowoomba. We are so thankful to live in a town filled with so many talented people who love sharing their skills. We can’t wait to plan our thirtieth birthdays later this year knowing that we live in a town that can make any of our craziest party planning dreams a reality. Just remember, being from a small town doesn’t mean events have to be small!
