Emma Mactaggart is an award-winning author and publisher. Based in Toowoomba, but renowned internationally, she has been teaching the craft of writing and illustrating to children and adults for the last fifteen years via her Child Writes program. Her publishing business, a small press with a big purpose, Boogie Books, is the largest publisher in the world on Amazon of children’s picture books written by children for children. For five years, these same books also flew with Jetstar as part of their in-flight entertainment system!

Emma is a regular guest on ABC Southern Queensland Radio with host Belinda Sanders talking about books, and if she isn’t consuming them herself, she is creating them through The Child Writes Fund. Emma works with children and coordinates successful picture book projects for organisations wishing to use the platform to communicate with a younger audience – Melanoma Awareness Foundation, ‘Melanie & Me’’,   Condamine Alliance ‘Finnleys’ Great Escape’, QLD Children’s Hospital School ‘Luke Calypso Goes to Space’, Hinkler Shopping Centre ‘Too Bright Tonight’, YellowBridge Disability Access ‘Rachel’s Quest’ Oakey Wellness Committee ‘Glib Glob’s Audacious Gift’ and the most recent Zonta Garden City ‘Akilah’s Necklace’.

She is also the Founder of International Read to Me! Day, focused on the importance of reading regularly to children.

Now Emma has added another project to her amazing world.  On Saturday 6th November from 10am-2pm, Emma is hosting the Top of the Range Word Fest at her new, fresh, exciting WRITE GALLERY in the Lighthouse Complex at 126 Margaret Street.  As part of Word Fest’s Collaboration Team, Emma’s vision, energy, and enthusiasm for bringing over 25 local regional writers or organisations to the public is about to roll into 2022 with a year of activities and festival partnerships that will offer something for everyone.

As a visible advocate for all things in the Toowoomba community, Emma promotes connections and support through the tlcfortrc FaceBook page.

Come and meet Emma and the writers at THE WRITE GALLERY on the 6th.
