Belinda’s presence in Toowoomba’s media and community support scene needs no introduction.  Her ability to recognise the significant stories and keep her finger on the pulse of this great region has seen wonderful news coverage for the ABC  Southern Queensland network.  Her roles as on-air journalist and behind the scenes as chief of staff and news director have made her a much loved and lauded local identity.

She has covered many stories of national significance for both commercial television and the national broadcaster.  Belinda has accepted the MC role for the upcoming Wedding Industry and Business Leaders Breakfast and this will be another event of national significance.  Why?

Having seen the influence over the years of some of the key organisers such as Mary Reid from Merivale Cakes and Crafts and Kim Cahill from Toowoomba Darling Downs, Belinda sensed the significance of local, state and national level opportunities of this collaborative event. When national Managing Director of ABIA Weddings, Natasha O’Meara, partnered with Kim and Toowoomba Darling Downs, to support and nurture small and micro businesses with the view to project Toowoomba’s regional attributes for high quality wedding packages, Belinda could see the possibilities.

The Wedding Industry sits in that ‘in between space’ of tourism and events. Belinda believes Toowoomba is largely undiscovered and offers the chance for post-COVID pre and post wedding package hunters to find places never before considered or known about- which is definitely a growth area.

She believes Toowoomba’s edge, being at the top of the range, is the mountains, the historic venues and the rural communities’ closeness to a thriving city. The easy access to Brisbane, the Lockyer Valley and the western communities of the Downs sees an ideal location which has shown there is a great sense of community without boundaries willing to collaborate for the greater purpose.

Belinda as MC at the breakfast at The Oaks on Friday 9th July from 6.30-8.30  am will be a much appreciated face fronting the event.
